Dr. Nicholas E. Poulos
Dr. Poulos is a board-certified neurosurgeon with more than 20 years of clinical and research experience in neurosurgery.
Prior to founding Southern Illinois Brain & Spine Center, Dr. Poulos spent the previous eight years in clinical practice at the Danville Regional Medical Center in Danville, Virginia.
A native of Cleveland, Dr. Poulos completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education at John Hopkins University in Baltimore. He is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland. He is board certified and a diplomat of the American Board of Neurosurgery.
Dr. Poulos has authored several articles and made multiple presentations to professional groups during his career. He was winner of the Gardner Neuroscience Research Competition sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and was the recipient of the American Brain Tumor Association Research Training Fellowship, which he completed at the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Poulos maintains memberships in several medical societies including the American Medical Association and American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He resides in the Belleville area.
Dr. Joseph Yazdi
Dr. Joseph Yazdi is a board-certified neurosurgeon. Prior to joining Dr. Poulos at Southern Illinois Brain and Spine Center, he spent the previous six years of clinical practice at the Toledo Clinic in Toledo, OH.
Dr. Yazdi grew up in Maryland where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland College Park. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. He initially undertook residency training in neurosurgery at Hahnemann University and then completed it at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ, in 2001.
Dr. Yazdi has authored articles and made several presentations to professional groups during his career. He maintains membership at a number of organizations such as CNS, AANS, NASS, and AMA.
