Dr. Joseph Yazdi
Dr. Joseph Yazdi is a board-certified neurosurgeon. Prior to joining Dr. Poulos at Southern Illinois Brain and Spine Center, he spent the previous six years of clinical practice at the Toledo Clinic in Toledo, OH.
Dr. Yazdi grew up in Maryland where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland College Park. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. He initially undertook residency training in neurosurgery at Hahnemann University and then completed it at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ, in 2001.
Dr. Yazdi has been performing minimally invasive spine procedures since 2001. These procedures include Kyphoplasty, X-Stop procedure, laminectomy, discectomy, and fusion with instrumentation. The advantages of minimally invasive procedures are the smaller incisions, less post-operative pain, and faster recovery times. He is also a faculty member of an organization where his duties include teaching other surgeons around the country on how to perform minimally invasive spine surgeries.
Dr. Yazdi has authored articles and made several presentations to professional groups during his career. He maintains membership at a number of organizations such as CNS, AANS, and NASS.
